Terms of Use

1. Agreeing to these terms

By using U-say you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the app. These terms are effective August 29, 2026.

2. Who can use U-say

You must be at least 13 years old to use U-say. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian to agree to these terms on your behalf.

3. Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password private. You can use U-say as a guest without an email address, but a guest account cannot be recovered if you lose the device — there is nothing identifying it to restore.

4. What U-say is, and is not

U-say is a learning tool. Its translations, corrections, pronunciation feedback and conversation replies are generated by AI and can be wrong, incomplete or inappropriate for a particular situation.\n\nDo not rely on U-say alone for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical or other high-stakes communication.

5. Your content

What you write, say and import stays yours. You give us only the permission needed to process it for the features you ask for — transcribing a recording, translating a sentence, generating a lesson — as described in the Privacy Policy and controlled by your settings.

6. Recording other people

Recording laws differ by country and state, and in many places everyone in a conversation must consent. You are responsible for following the law where you are. U-say cannot tell whether a recording is lawful, and does not do so on your behalf.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use U-say to break the law, harass or exploit anyone, record people without the consent required where you are, attack or probe our systems, work around usage limits, resell access, or extract our content in bulk.\n\nWe may limit or close an account to protect users or the service.

8. Usage limits

AI features cost money to run, so each account has a daily allowance. If you reach it, those features pause until the next day while the rest of the app keeps working. We set these limits to be generous for normal use and will adjust them as the product develops.

9. U-say+ subscription

U-say+ is not available for purchase during the beta, and no payment is taken.\n\nWhen it launches, U-say+ will be an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation. It renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends, and your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending. You can manage or cancel it in your device Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies, not by us.

10. Beta software

U-say is in beta. Features may change or be removed, data may occasionally be lost, and the app will contain bugs. Please keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose — Settings → Privacy & Data can export it.

11. Services we depend on

U-say relies on third-party services for transcription, AI language processing, speech and hosting. If one of those is unavailable, the features that depend on it will not work until it returns.

12. Our content

The U-say app, name, logo, course material, stories and interface are ours and are protected by copyright and trade-mark law. Open-source components remain under their own licences, listed in Settings.

13. Ending your use

You can stop using U-say at any time and delete your account from Settings → Account. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken, or if we need to protect the service or comply with the law.

14. Disclaimer and liability

U-say is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, and some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so parts may not apply to you.

15. Changes

We may update these terms as U-say develops. If a change is material we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use U-say after that means you accept the updated terms.
